Why Shorts are better than Pants

In India, you’re only as professional and reliable as your clothing. If you wear shorts in broad daylight, even if it’s to go shopping people discourage you and give you dirty looks.

“We’re not American. We shouldn’t be wearing shorts,” said a tailor when I visited his shop. He found out later that I do reside in the States and then giggled. He still insisted that I don’t wear shorts. I told him that it’s the comfort that encourages us to wear shorts. He giggled more.

I love the idea of shorts at the workplace for men. They’re comfortable, they’re practical and as you see from the post adjacent to this one, they’re stylish. Nothing wrong with wearing a pair of nice shorts to the office.

The only issue that I can think of is the shoes - which shoes will go with them? But I think we can leave that up to the fashionistas to decide and us to follow-suit.
